ECOsmart Platinum Award to local venue

woodhaven.space awarded prestigious green award

Woodhaven space, a state-of-the-art venue in Horsell has been granted the ECOsmart Platinum Venue Award, the highest possible award by accreditation organisation, Greengage Solutions.

This prestigious award is not easily achieved. It requires the venue to reach exceptional standards in food and beverage, energy and waste conservation, waste management and recycling, corporate and social responsibility and rooms, facilities and consumables.

Greengage Solutions CEO, Andrew Perolls, said after visiting Woodhaven recently ‘Everywhere I look there is astonishing attention to green detail. Food preparation is state of the art. Woodhaven was purpose-built to be sustainable with every part of the venue researched and planned to be self-sustaining and efficient. Nothing is wasted.’

Low energy lighting, a rain harvest tank, solar thermal panels, and a water filtration system, also made locally, are just some of the eco features of this airtight building.

Nicky Yates, with husband Jeremy, after many years working in the corporate world, specified the building in order to create a safe, friendly and healthy place for both family and community events and her own wellbeing coaching. Often seen picking fruit and vegetables from their own garden, Nicky also provides healthy catering to meet the exacting demands of her clients, whether it  be vegan, vegetarian or allergy free.

Woodhaven can cater for groups of up to fifty, but more often ten to twenty-five, with just one team or group having exclusive use of the multiple rooms and garden. Facilities at Woodhaven include one larger meeting room complete with screen and all necessary audio visual equipment, smaller breakout rooms, a quiet studio, a dining/conference room, an indoor freshwater pool and hot tub, a heat exchange and ventilation system that ensures fresh air is constantly circulating and the use of the garden. The venue is within walking distance of central Woking and there is parking available for up to fifteen cars

Apart from corporate meetings and team building, Woodhaven is also ideal for boutique weddings, celebrations of life, wellbeing days, yoga classes and photo shoots.

Nicky Yates said ‘Although restrictions for meetings are being relaxed, we heat test every guest and observe social distancing requirements, while our ventilation system ensures the quality of the air is constantly maintained. Our aim has always been to provide a safe, comfortable space to serve the local community - a sustainable 21st century building that would stimulate creativity and a sense of wellbeing.’
