Shape your place: Help shape Woking’s future growth

What does our borough need in the future? More homes? Better jobs? Stronger climate action? Thriving communities? Now is your chance to have your say, as we develop a new Local Plan. The Local Plan is the borough’s blueprint for development over the next 15 to 20 years. It sets out how land will be used, what gets built where, including homes, jobs and infrastructure, whilst protecting what matters most. This is the first stage of preparing a new Local Plan and marks the first formal stage of public engagement under Regulation 18 of the Town and Country Planning Act. Before making decisions about future development, we want to understand your priorities and vision for Woking in 2044. By taking part, you can influence: Overall vision and strategy What we protect and what we change How growth can benefit communities Once adopted, the Local Plan will guide planning decisions until 2044. How to take part Log in The consultation is organised into 10 themes. You can complete all of them or just the ones that interest you. Before you start, we recommend reading the following sections first, as they provide important context: Background information Building blocks for Woking’s future Local context Once you’ve read these, you can move on to the surveys for each theme and share your views.

The full consultation webpage can be viewed here, which contains useful information and surveys for various topics. I appreciate that the surveys are aimed more at residents, so if anyone wishes to respond in a more detailed professional/commercial capacity, then we will accept an email – this can be sent to Planning.Policy@woking.gov.uk

The consultation closes at 11.59pm on Wednesday 15th October 2025
