Woking Rotary partner with Workaid

Discarded tools and equipment needed

Woking Rotary Club has formed a partnership with the Charity WORKAID to source unwanted tools and equipment which can be refurbished for continuing use by thousands of disadvantaged people living in East Africa so that they can learn a skilled trade and earn a living.  The majority are among the most disadvantaged – widows and orphans affected by HIV/AIDS as well as street children, refugees and the disabled.

200 volunteers check, refurbish and give a new lease of life to sewing machines, knitting machines, manual typewriters, and all DIY tools including, carpentry, car/ bicycle repair and horticultural tools before they are allocated to specific projects and shipped in containers to Tanzania / Kenya / Uganda / Zambia.

We are appealing to the public in Woking to recycle their discarded tools and other reusable equipment to support WORKAID.  Rotary will arrange early collection so please contact :

You will be helping to break the cycle of poverty in these countries, in addition to reducing the need for landfill of all such items.
