Woking Rotary partner with Workaid
Discarded tools and equipment needed
Woking Rotary Club has formed a partnership with the Charity
WORKAID to source unwanted tools and equipment which can be refurbished for
continuing use by thousands of disadvantaged people living in East Africa so that they can learn a
skilled trade and earn a living. The
majority are among the most disadvantaged – widows and orphans affected by
HIV/AIDS as well as street children, refugees and the disabled.
200 volunteers check, refurbish and give a new lease of life
to sewing machines, knitting machines, manual typewriters, and all DIY tools
including, carpentry, car/ bicycle repair and horticultural tools before they
are allocated to specific projects and shipped in containers to Tanzania /
Kenya / Uganda / Zambia.
We are appealing to the public in Woking to recycle their
discarded tools and other reusable equipment to support WORKAID. Rotary will arrange early collection so
