Tools For Life
Rotary Club of Woking set up stall at Horsell Village Show on Saturday 21 July to ask householders in Woking to donate their unwanted tools, sewing and knitting machines to the charity Work Aid who are helping to tackle poverty and long term mainly in East Africa. The charity is dedicated to helping people help themselves, through self help groups and vocational training projects to supply disadvantaged people with the tools and practical skills to become self supporting. The first container went to Kenya in 1994 and they now send 8 containers of equipment each year – 80 tonnes of equipment supporting 180 projects: tool kits for trades including for carpentry, mechanics, horticulture, shoemaking, clothing, and typewriting.
Rotary is offering to collect locally on behalf of Work Aid who will refurbish your tools that would otherwise be thrown away before shipment to East Africa. Just contact one of the following to arrange for your collection:
