The meeting was opened by retiring President, Mike Webb. He introduced the Mayor of Woking, Cllr Anne Roberts who delivered a short welcoming address. She pointed out the huge changes that have been made to the town since the days she was manager of Sovereign Travel and commented on the many exciting developments now taking place in Woking.

Mike Webb, in his address, thanked his predecessor Graham Mott who had the task of steering the Chamber through the two most difficult years of the recession. He was pleased, he said, that he was now able to hand over to Stuart with the economy in a much stronger position.

Stuart Wright the retiring treasurer reported that the Chamber had made a small profit for the year and that there had been a relatively small loss in membership numbers over the year.  The drive is now on, he said, to dramatically increase membership and he asked the members present to invite their local clients and suppliers to consider joining the Chamber.

Dave Peet from Menzies was elected as Vice President, while committee chairmen  Dave Peet, Planning and Environment, Paul Webster, Business Development and Simon Griffith, Independent Retail Group, were re-elected.

The meeting was relaxed and optimistic about the future and closed with a drinks reception on the attractive gallery outside the main WWF theatre.
